Tesco: Unforgettable Bag

Tesco, the supermarket chain, incentivised shoppers in Malaysia to reuse their bags by giving them money off their shop when they did.
  • Tesco's aim was to accelerate a reduction in single-use bags to position it as a leading sustainability champion and help build the path to total ban of single-use bags by 2020.
  • Instead of trying to make people feel bad for forgetting to bring a bag, Tesco rewarded them for bringing them back with wide appeal to every type of shopper.
  • The fish, turtle and whale were extended as campaign characters throughout the store on multiple POS materials (posters, aprons, checkout banners and scanner wraps), while an animated film helped launch the concept worldwide.
