In a joint announcement, WPP has been named the agency holding company of the decade, while agency of the decade goes to AlmapBBDO Sao Paolo.

Over the last 10 years, agencies owned by WPP have brought in 40 Grands Prix, five Creative Effectiveness Lions, eight Titanium, 464 Gold, 844 Silver, and 1,385 Bronze Lions.

The annual special award originated in 2011 and was first awarded to WPP, which then went on to win the award a further six times.

Runner-up Holding Company of the Decade, Omnicom, was awarded Holding Company of the Year for the past two years, driven by strong performances from agencies in its BBDO Worldwide network.

Interpublic Group is ranked in third, having steadily climbed the annual ranks from fourth to second over the second half of the decade.

Meanwhile, AlmapBBDO Sao Paolo, which was also LatAm agency of the decade, was named agency of the decade, topping off a powerful run from the BBDO Network.

The agency, has ranked in the top two regional agencies seven times, taking the top spot over five times thanks to multi-award winning campaigns for clients including Volkswagen, Getty and Havaianas.

In second place was Wieden + Kennedy Portland, which spent five years consistently in the top 10 thanks to ultra-famous work for Nike.

In third place was BBDO New York.
