Clothing, food and soft drink sales doubled on Tmall in April

An overview of Tmall sales in key consumer categories between December 2019 and April 2020 during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The sales value of clothing & accessories, food and soft drinks on Tmall doubled in April 2020 during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, according to the latest data from WARC's sister company Yimian.

The value of clothing & accessories sales on Tmall grew 123% year-on-year in April 2020, continuing an acceleration of growth seen since January. Growth in food sales value has slowed from February but still rose 97% in April. Soft drinks growth has also quickened to 94%.

Both alcoholic drinks (68%) and toiletries & cosmetics (26%) saw sales growth in April but below the rate seen in December....
