In Turkey, while 82% of transactions were made with credit cards in 2017, this percentage had decreased to 56% in 2021 (Source: iyzico "2021 Turkey E-Commerce Ecosystem Report").
As a reflection of this shrinkage, the shopping volume was shifting towards alternative payment methods. Alongside bank cards, there was an increasing demand for alternative payment methods such as prepaid cards and digital wallets.
